UN Specialised Agencies
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are advocating for our rights in a number of specialised agencies of the United Nations including:
ILO
WIPO
UNESCO
CBD
These agencies also facilitate indigenous peoples participation through a fund to assist participation in the negotiations and a fellowship program to faciliate networking and learning.
What are specialised agencies?
Specialised agencies are incorporated in the United Nations system through the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). They are provided for under the United Nations General Charter.
Specialised agencies of of the UN system include:
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
International Labour Organization (ILO)
International Maritime Organization (IMO)
International Monetary Fund (IMF)
International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
