Health

You are entitled to the highest possible standard of health.

Health and well-being is one of the fundamental human rights and freedoms. This was first established in Article 25 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UNDHR) (hyperlink to IHRNA page on UNDHR)

The right to health is also set out Article 12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). This article recognises the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.

The Close the Gap program is one of the main campaigns through which Indigenous peoples right to health is being facilitated in Australia. You can learn more about the program.
