Disability Discrimination in Australian

Disability discrimination is illegal under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA). 

Disability discrimination occurs in a number of places, including sports.

Disability Advisory Council and Conference

 The Community and Disability Services Ministers’ Advisory Council (CDSMAC)

CDSMAC is an official forum of senior Commonwealth State and Territory Disability officials who discuss national disability policy issues. CDSMAC advises Ministers on matters pertaining to services covered by the National Disability Agreement.

Community and Disability Services’ Conference is a forum for Australian Federal, State and Territory Governments and Government of New Zealand to discuss matters of mutual interest. Further information can be found on the FaHCSIA website.

 

Aboriginal Disability Network NSW

The Aboriginal Disability Network NSW brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability to: tell our stories, give each other support, create a voice of change, and speak for ourselves.

In 2004-2005 the report Telling it Like it Is was released. This report is the result of community consultations with Aboriginal people with disability and their associates throughout New South Wales.
