United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues
The UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) is an advisory body within the UN system which reports to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) (established by the ECOSOC resolution 2000/22 on 28 July 2000).
The last session of the UNPFII was 9th session 19-30 April 2010, New York.
It’s focused special theme was: Indigenous peoples: development with culture and identity; articles 3 and 32 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Joint interventions by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples organisations at the 9th session of the UNPFII were coordinated through the 'Indigenous Peoples Organisation Network' (IPON) which met daily in the Australian Indigenous caucus each morning of the session.
